The Past
History of BMW Marine [ most of the information is 2nd. & 3rd.
hand. Corrections accepted]
We estimate that over the 10 or more years BMW Marine GmbH existed, in
an effort to become a major player in the Marine recreational industry,
they had invested in excess of $100.000,000.00 The
legal obligations are apparently one of the reasons BMW quit in 1988. @
law suits in the USA.
The Future
There continues to be discussions to marinize some of
the excellent BMW engines, especially the V12 and the 3.0 "Hot
Rod" six cylinder diesel offered in the X5 in Europe.
BMW V12 gasoline engines for marine use
Our plans are to
marinize the BMW V12 gasoline/petrol engine for the North American
market.
Further along we
planned to marinize the 'Hot Rod' 3 liter diesel used in the X5 [ only
in Europe]. There is one only 3.0 liter X5 in North America
that we know of.
to adapt to the V12
and Hot Rod Diesel.
